He wondered, for half a moment, why the kitchen smelled like smoke and awful, and why Chie stood between him and the garbage, awkwardly, telling him she'd just left the stove on, before he realized that the sink was full of dishes coated in pancake batter, and she mumbled a "happy birthday" while taking the garbage out.

She pressed on her brother's shoulder to get him to stop moving, and it backfired in the worst way, Anemone's tiny hands catching on a container of sticky sweet syrup and impossible to remove flower--Ferio didn't quite know whether to scold them or to laugh.

"It's in your hair!" Kisa couldn't help but laugh with surprise while Ken grimaced at the fact that the Minun on his head was dripping ice cream to the point where it trickled down his face.

Mitsuru was not pleased when she found the boys asleep on the couch of the lobby at ten in the morning--Akihiko late for his first day of work, and Ken missing his first day of middle school--all for a late-night training spree.

The grey-haired boy didn't recognize Nemesis when she tugged on his shorts, only staring in confusion as the realization dawned on him that her skull was very much missing.

When she crouched down to his level, he was very sure she was going to do something stupid and flirty despite he fact that he was very much moping over the disappearance of another friend, but she just sat with a smile--it was a pleasant surprise to have a companion to just sit with, just this once.

"My mother--" "--disappeared when I was a child, my father--" "--is off to go fight a war against the worst bad guy ever, my sister--" "--is terrifying and out to get me--" "And I don't need you butting in!" Katara froze for a moment, realizing that no matter how different they were, when Sokka and Zuko started complaining, they might as well have been the same person.
